EPA Certification Review and Exam instructed by Young Supply’s own Brent Cox.

What You Will Learn: 

  • Federal Regulations: Understand the requirements of Section 608 of the Clean Air Act and the importance of proper refrigerant handling techniques. 
  • Examination Overview: Get familiar with the structure of the certification exam, including the Core, Type I, Type II, Type III, and Universal sections. 
  • Vapor-Compression Refrigeration Cycle: Learn the detailed workings of the refrigeration cycle, including components like compressors, condensers, and evaporators. 
  • Pressure-Temperature Chart: Master the use of the pressure-temperature chart to understand the relationship between pressure and temperature for various refrigerants. 
  • Refrigeration Service: Gain insights into best practices for servicing refrigeration systems, including leak detection, dehydration, and safety measures. 
  • Recovery Devices: Explore the types of recovery devices and their usage. 
  • Leak Detection: Discover effective methods for detecting leaks, including electronic detectors and soap bubbles. 
  • Dehydration: Learn the importance of removing moisture from systems and proper evacuation procedures. 
  • Safety Measures: Understand the safety precautions when handling refrigerants, including the use of protective gear and proper handling of cylinders.

Students must contact their local Young Supply branch prior to the class and purchase part # QT3000 for $155.60, which is the cost of the class.  Prior to class day, students will self study from the book but can email the instructor, brent.cox@youngsupply.com , with questions.

The class will have a 25 question review from each of the EPA-608 sections and, after a question and answer period, the exam will be administered.  Lead time on exam results is typically 2-3 weeks.
